Sox Win In Style...Angels Beat Themselves

It was a smart-guy type of a play called by Scioscia. Instead of beating the sox with one out and a guy on third, they erased their runner on third and ended up with 2 outs and nobody on...doh. It was completely unnecessary for the situation. Sac fly and the rbi was all that was needed there. The angels didn't need to get pretty. The decision was vain. So much so I imagined Scioscia calling the play with the arrogant assumption that the squeeze play will make him look like "the man" as I watched with excitement as what's his name tried to run back to third in time before Varitek tagged him and after what seemed like only a second or two, had the ball fly out of his glove. I'm not sure about the umping on that call, but if the angels had played well, it wouldn't have gotten here. Yes, I'm looking at you, Erik Aybar. His defense was terrible. In my mind if there was a loser of the game named it would be Aybar. He just botched too many plays that should have been made and it directly led to at least 2 of the runs Boston put up on the board. It wasn't a pretty win for Boston, but I'm more than sure they'll take it.

Lackey was visibly and understandable upset with the defense behind him. It's hard to keep your team in a position to win when they seem determined to lose. So much for those vaunted "fundamentals" we heard about all season.
