Round 1

Wow, the draft is TV friendly! I'm sure there will be too much Yanks Sox repercussions to every other teams picks but whatever. Hah, Gammons immediately talks about how a power LHP can do very well at Fenway and Yankee stadiums while discussing first pick David Price. . Gammons tries to sugarcoat what really seems to be a guy without a high ceiling on the Pirates pick. Boras vs. Angelos with the Wieters pick. Jim Callis looks like the PC guy's younger brother. Some College vs. High School talk going on at espn's steve phillips. He states College players are easier to project because high schoolers have less quality competition to play against.

Are the Brewers thinking of going back to the AL with that pick? Watch your back, Prince.

Parker is non-committal when asked if he'll go to college or go to AZ. Smart kid. Wish .

They are heaping praise on Dominguez comparing him to Zimmerman. Phillips talking some about how teams don't pick for need.

Law likes Cle's pick. Thinking 1b or DH for him as position. Great Power in him, but not great in the fielding department. They also talk up Mills' mlb pedigree as helpful.

They like Heyward as a hometown boy pick and show a graphic with other Braves Georgia picks like Francour. Comparisons to McCovey and McGriff abound.

Weird to have so many guys drafted as catchers. Martin/Mauer/McCann/envy?
Logan has his work cut out for him. Lotsa High Schoolers taken compared to previous years.

Law disses the cards' pick. Also some talk about Porcello falling like a stone to the Yankees because of Boras demands.

Smoker is still on the board! Woot! I hope they pick him. Tommy LaSorda is there. Boo! I wanted Smoker. But I trust White knows what he's doing so I'm rooting for Chris now. Hopefully Smoker is still there for the blue's next pick. Withrow is such a surprise Gammons just babbled about how White knew how to pick pitchers.

ESPN analyst notes that there is much more info about high schoolers now than in previous years in the college vs. high schooler debate in regards to the Alderson pick.

Oakland's Pick to me seems like a right handed version of Eric Stults. This guy doesn't seem to have that great of a ceiling. UCR's baseball program is relatively new.

Finally Porcello is off the board. Tigers work well with Boras like the Rangers, so this will probably work out. At least the Yankees didn't get him.

The S.F. pick just made a new excuse for the analysts to talk about Lincecum. They note how picking a H.S. position player is very new strategy for the Giants. I guess you could infer from the pick rebuilding has begun.

Please Yankees don't take Smoker...
Nice! they took a brittle college pitcher with no secondary pitch. Waste of a pick in my mind.

Oh well, Smoker didn't last till 39. Hope he does well with the Nationals.

O.K. I can confidently say I don't like the Dodgers #39 pick :( Seems like White was trying to fill some need for relief pitching with a first round sandwich pick. Congratulations and have fun in Vegas in two years, Adkins (knocking the blue, not you, guy). Did McCourt run out of money? Has Logan White been drinking? I'm seriously hoping I'm totally wrong and White knows something very important that nobody else does about this guy. And like Forrest says so well 'That's all I've got to say about that'.
