You never know about them dodgers, with the press being so wrapped up into whether New York or Boston is currently rumored to have the best deal going for the best left-handed pitcher in the majors, Johan Santana. It was pretty funny to read how the Minnesota sports writer admitted to making up one of the yankees offers for one of his articles. We don't even get respect in the city of L.A. with the Angels still in the thick of negotiations Miguel Cabrera while the dodgers are mentioned mostly as an afterthought. What do the fans of the other 27 teams in baseball get for Christmas? I've kinda been stating what I want once every couple of weeks with the latest incarnation of my hopes for the dodgers offseason done like a week ago. I guess I should be more careful what I wish for, as this article totally clanks a cast iron skillet onto a stove and in a week or so it may be warmed up. I'm not holding my breath as Boras clients take a while. ARod still doesn't have a deal and they've agreed to agree (like the Palestinians and Israelis recently) and still have no done deal. What's even better is if they manage to get him to agree to sign for only two years like the article suggests. By that time, it should be known whether Loney, Kemp, and LaRoche can be the 3-4-5 impact hitters the dodgers keep fruitlessly searching for in trade and free agency like a mad cryptozoologist searching for bigfoot, nessie, and champ, like that new show on The Learning Channel.

What Do You Want for Christmas?
What could be bittersweet about the deal is the dodgers may make Andre Ethier a 4'th outfielder while playing Pierre every day. That would be the worst lump of coal in my stocking. Maybe they trade Ethier away in perhaps a big deal or a small deal. Maybe Matt Kemp gets shipped off in a big deal for Cabrera (if we're to believe the sports writers Johan doesn't wanna come to L.A., and would only approve deals to Boston or New York). There have been every so whispery, vague rumors of Pierre being shopped and other sports writers including him as a logical trade target to fill their team's hole in center field. I really, really hope that a Pierre trade is the second gift I spy out with my name on the tag, attack, and violently tear off the wrapping paper to after the big shiny Andruw Jones that I know took Santa at least a weekend or so to assemble.
All you fans of teams other than the Red Sox and the Yankees, I hope there are some scraps left after the dust settles for your team to acquire a player that gives you some extra hope for your team's chances next season.
