New developments as opening day nears

Another one bites the dust!  Abreu is not gonna be ready for opening day.  LaRoche, Garciaparra, and now Abreu have all caught the extremely contagious third base injury bug.  I didn't think the dodgers would have to be dipping this far into their depth.  DeWitt could be alright, though.  It's easy to be down when you've gone through 3 third baseman already to think the fourth guy can't be expected to work out, because he's the fourth guy!  Other teams probably have worse starting third baseman than what the dodgers will throw out there in DeWitt.  He's a good prospect, he just happens to be overshadowed by the second best third baseman prospect in the game who was having troubles of his own getting a chance.  If he can play defense, it won't hurt too much having him instead of the other three guys because they were all slated to bat 8'th anyways.  Abreu's injury probably means the dodgers carrying our good friend Ramon Martinez as well.

In other news, Brazoban won't be on the big team on opening day so he can continue building up arm strength.  Another bullet dodged as Torre's desire to have another pet lefty won't be in the form of Mike Myers.
