Oh Yeah, More Manny Musings

I'm 99% sure Manny doesn't come to L.A. now.  The best rumor I read was Manny to Philadelphia presumably for Pat Burrell.  Burrell's in his walk year so that works out as well.  Philadelphia would probably finagle a fringe prospect out of the sox for doing Boston the favor.  Burrell is only 31, so maybe Boston seizes the opportunity and tries to extend him instead of letting him become a free agent.  If I remember correctly Philly has been trying to get rid of Burrell for a whiles but just kind of give up and keep him, kinda like the sox's situation with Manny--except for all the Mannyisms.  If this offer is on the table, and the goal of the sox is to replace Manny's production in left field but without the drama, then they should make a deal like this because it practically replaces Manny with a younger version being paid less.  If their goal is to gaffle prospects from some other team then I guess this deal doesn't get done and there may be life to Manny to the marlins or dodgers.  It's impossible for them to achieve both goals.  It would be dumb for the sox to dump Manny for prospects in the middle of a pennant race.  He's not that big of a distraction.
