Well I was busy the last few days, so thankfully I missed the Dodgers little losing streak. So I won't go and analyze those yucky games against the Padres.
Anyways, today is the MLB amateur draft on ESPN2 at 11 AM PST. The Dodgers have pick twenty. Biggest rule change is there are no more draft-and-follow picks so when teams use late round picks to pick talented high schoolers with strong college commitments, the team no longer has a very long time to try to persuade the pick into pro ball with a chunk of cash. This probably will result in more high school kids opting for college, but who knows.
From reading the usual suspects of good dodger blogs and message boards like this one and this one you get an idea who the Dodgers may pick. I'd like to say a few good words about a huge Dodger Fan who's blog comments and message board comments I love to consume, Canuck. He's a Canadian guy who REALLY loves the Dodgers (long story) and really, really loves following prospects, scouting, and the draft. In the same boat is a poster at scout called Washie. I sift through the comments (they are mostly swipes at Juan Pierre) at dodger thoughts to read posts by yet another great commenter named Nate Purcell. Here's to Logan White making you guys extremely happy today. Keep up the good work.
And so it begins...
