Maybe It's the Same Old Ned After All

One unlovable thing about the dodgers GM Ned Colletti is his penchant for dealing with the D-Rays and getting too little back.  We got Mark Hendrickson from them, should I even have to type more?  Anyways I think this is totally wishful thinking on the Rays part but since the dodgers signed Andruw Jones rumor is the dodgers are willing to trade Kemp or Ethier.  So it's not surprising an author would speculate about acquiring the underrated Ethier seeing as how the dodgers have bailed them out by giving up guys with potential (yeah, none of them has worked out for them yet (like Edwin Jackson and Joel Guzman) but that doesn't make it o.k.

As a fan I have to hope even more that Kuroda signs with the dodgers to remove this temptation to deal away a young, underrated (did I say that twice now?) outfielder for mediocre pitching.  There's a reason Edwin Jackson is likely to get a rotation spot on the Rays, and it's not because he's improved.  With that being the case, why would we go there for pitching?

This would seem to be a move of addition by subtraction in just trading Juan Pierre to a team that could use him as their everyday center fielder.  There are plenty of teams that have given up on Aaron Rowand, the last decent center field free agent left on the market.  They'll take Pierre onto their roster, if not his entire salary.
