The Lyon Weeps Tonight

I like Brandon Lyon. I like him a lot. I like him because he seems to blow a lot of saves (5 this season). The dodgers almost got him in the 3-2 loss. Bad managing by the diamondbacks is my rendered verdict.

In other news, the dodgers got a utilityman in the form of Pablo Ozuna. I don't know what they're expecting this guy to do but hopefully it's not much lol. How many middle infield utilitymen does one semi-contending team need? My baseball-reference.com sponsor page is Hu's, so I'm chomping at the bit to see if he gets some action once rosters expand. Hopefully the little guy can catch lightning in a bottle and get some playing time. Hopefully the post eye surgery success isn't fleeting a la Mark Hendrickson. As far as the third base situation I'd much rather LaRoche be given some time to sink or swim over there and have DeWitt try to work out of his funk at second spelling Kent and getting the occasional start at second and third, but I'm repeating myself now. Thank goodness that Nomar is hot right now.

Hopefully this Jason Johnson guy has been showcased enough to be a throw-in that we won't miss in a trade for somebody that might actually help and go back to Kershaw in the rotation. I'm still holding out for the dodgers perhaps using Kuo as a starter during the playoffs if they get there. Stults is scheduled to pitch tonight (just saw Joel Hanrahan pitching garbage innings for the Nats yesterday afternoon--I liked what I saw of him in Vegas). I think you either have to decide to stick with Stults or deal him. He's in his prime and he's pitching as well as he probably will in his entire life right now. Use him or get something for him. Park is on the record (L.A. Times) on being against taken out of the rotation. He seems like he'd be lights out as a set up guy with his stuff being as good as it has (knock on wood). Maybe the whole topsy-turviness of the rotation is to rest arms for down the final stretch. Last year there was a really bad dead armed phase both the rotation and bullpen experienced.

I'll end this with one final thought. We need more left handed hitters...
