I don't follow NCAA basketball much, NCAA women's even less. But I saw Tennessee vs. Rutgers with about 4 and a half minutes left in a one point game. 'Good', I thought, 'I always like to see Tennessee lose from when I was in New England and they were the Huskies nemesis. So I watch the game and it goes back and forth and then on the last play the clock magically stops with .2 seconds left as the Lady Vols are flailing up shots while looking at the refs for a foul...the clock stops...for about a good half a second. With that clock stopped and time still slipping...slipping...into the future, maybe a half second after the game should have been over a foul is called on Rutgers with that .2 seconds still on the clock.
With that big break, the Vols make both their free throws giving themselves a one point lead now with .2 seconds left. Now Rutgers attempts to inbound the ball. The girl the ball was passed to seemed like she was fouled by Tennessee as she touched the ball.
Clock still hasn't moved. .2 seconds still left on the clock. Nothing called by the refs. Announcer calls the game and the refs walk off.
I've seen boxing matches less fixed than the end of this game seemed to be.
I was enjoying the game and then the officiating fell off a cliff.
I don't think I'll watch another NCAA game for a long time.
