With all the middle infielder injuries and lack of moves by management to bring in guys from outside the organization, it looks like Chin-Lung Hu should be with the team opening day as a utility infielder. Maybe he even starts at third should DeWitt prove the learning curve from Jacksonville to L.A. too steep. So, despite being discouraged by all the injuries (especially LaRoche) it gives the guy who's baseball reference page I sponsor a chance to win a job instead of starting off on the 51's. I hope the power he showed in his brief stint wasn't a fluke because his ability to hit for power is the only thing that will make the dodgers comfortable in letting Rafael Furcal land a big contract elsewhere. His skills would be wasted at second base, where he could play when Kent retires, and the dodgers already have Tony Abreu. Maybe one gets traded, maybe they become the best double play combo since Izturis/Cora.
Well with opening day a little more than 2 days to go the dodgers have to cut down that roster. I haven't seen them move the obvious guys to the disabled list yet. I see 28 guys on the roster. Schmidt, Nomar, Abreu, and LaRoche at least should be there. That makes for 24 guys. Add Chan Ho Park and you've got 25 guys. But then you've gotta subtract Repko because it was announced he'd be sent down to Vegas. Then add Ramon Martinez into the mix and you're back at 25. So with 2 days left to go this looks like what the blue are going with:
Pitchers
Penny
Lowe
Billingsley
Kuroda
Loaiza
Saito
Broxton
Proctor
Beimel

Troncoso
Catchers

Infielders
