Eddie Murray was fired. So What? It only means the Dodgers were superstitiously trying to change their fortunes by shaking non-essential roles up within their organization. As Hench goes into in the article, most batting coaches are pretty much organizational whipping boys.
I like Eddie Murray. He wore his hat funny. I liked that. I liked him when he was a player. While I didn't quite like how he performed as a Dodger very late in his career, I forgave him for that. That wasn't his fault. He needed more money for his children's college or something. As a coach, he looked like the typical "baseball guy" the way he just stared and chewed in the dugout with no expression. That's baseball, man. I don't know why since I never got into the game but from watching it a lot that is a baseball man's look. He'll move on. He probably wasn't coaching for the money anyways. Good luck to you, Eddie.
Now Manny Mota will be in the dugout and leaning over the dugout railing blankly watching the game. I like Manny Mota. I especially liked how he pinch hit in the 80's a few times even though he was a coach. That was very high on my coolness meter as a kid. He was money at the plate. Kinda like Saenz.
